The Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPACS) welcomes the 2006 Sydney Peace Prize Recipient to an informal morning forum at the University of Sydney.

The audience included CPACS Colleagues Leah Lui-Chivizhe, Lecturer Koori Centre, University of Sydney, and Dr. Stella Cornelius, Director, Conflict Resolution Network.

CPACS students relish the opportunity to discuss social justice issues with Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International, the 2006 Sydney Peace Prize Recipient.


"Make a Noise for Peace" - Cabramatta High School hosts the Sydney Peace Prize Recipient Friday 3rd November, 2006

Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International, delighted to be welcomed by a thousand school students at the "Make a Noise for Peace" Ceremony hosted by Cabramatta High School and supported by twenty one other New South Wales schools.

The Hon Justice Michael Kirby, A.C, C.M.G
Australian High Court Judge Michael Kirby is a leading international lawyer and defender of human rights. Throughout his extended judicial career he has been concerned to uphold fundamental human rights. He has frequently addressed the capacity of our institutions to do this.

In this public lecture Justice Kirby will explain how, in Australia and in other democracies, final courts are now looking to international human rights law in order to strengthen protection of basic civil rights.
